VIETNAM

10.45 – 11.30

Background
Vietnam has developed into a middle-income country and aspires to be a high-income country by 2045. This requires growth rates of six percent for the next 20 years. At COP26, Vietnam committed to net zero emissions by 2050 and further to reduce and bring forward the peak date for greenhouse gas emissions, substantially increase the renewable energy share and reduce the coal-fired generation capacity. Thus, a massive build out of wind and solar energy together with increased energy efficiency is needed.

Viet Nam has one of the largest offshore wind energy potentials in the region and plans to deploy 28 GW by 2030. Furthermore, Vietnam’s strategic location, infrastructure and industrial capabilities hold a significant potential of becoming an offshore wind supply chain center for the region, which makes it an interesting country for investment.

With strong bonds between Denmark and Vietnam, the recent agreement on a Green Strategic Partnership opens up for further exchanges in energy. Join the workshop and get local insights on the Vietnamese energy system and perspectives on the market on green energy solutions.
