The Confederation of Danish Industry continues to lead the green transition of the European tech industry.

On May 13, 2024, Louise Bünemann from the Confederation of Danish Industry (Dansk Industri) was re-elected as the chair of Orgalim, which represents thousands of tech companies across Europe. With Louise's re-election, the Confederation of Danish Industry continues to lead and accelerate the green transition in the tech industry.

On a sunny Tuesday morning, Louise Bünemann arrived at her office at the Confederation of Danish Industry in Copenhagen with a clear instruction from her student assistant to wear her finest attire. A photo of Louise was to be taken, and although she is quite modest by nature and just wanted to get the little "photo session" over with, the occasion was anything but modest. Louise has been re-elected to the European organization Orgalim, which represents approximately 770,000 tech companies in Europe and actively works to drive the green transition forward.

Balancing regulation and innovation in a time of rapid developement

The European technology industry is currently facing significant challenges and opportunities within multiple fields ranging from digital transformation to sustainable development. With the rapid advancement of technologies like artificial intelligence and advanced manufacturing techniques, there is a pressing need to balance regulatory frameworks with room to foster innovation.

About Orgalim’s work in this context, Louise herself says:

“The EU is sending a lot of legislation our way - we've talked about a legislative tsunami for the last few years. The legislation has good intentions, no doubt, but the voice of the industry is necessary to make sure that new requirements actually work in practice. I believe that Orgalim is an important player in that regard, and along with green colleagues from across Europe we can make a real difference for the green transition as well as for European industry.”

Who is Orgalim?

Orgalim was formally created in late 1954. Founding associations came from Austria, Belgium, France, West Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland, the UK, Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Norway.

Orgalim represents Europe’s technology industries, comprised of 770,000 companies spanning the mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and electronics, ICT and metal technology branches.

Orgalim’s advocacy work addresses the broad spectrum of policy and regulatory issues that impact companies, while their partnership services provide support to a broader network of clients in the field.

Regarding Louise's re-election, Deputy Director at Danish Industry, Karin Klitgaard, says:

"We are extremely happy and proud that Louise continues to drive the green transition in Orgalim. She brings important experience and insight from her previous term and from all our members in The Confederation og Danish Industry. We could not imagine a better and more competent representative for both Danish and European tech industries."

Louise Bünemann has been re-elected as the WG Chair along with Ulrike Witz as WG Vice-Chair for one additional last term of two years until 13 May 2026.
